April Team Member Spotlight: Rachel Montana, Enterprise Brand Manager
How long have you been working at TopSpot, and what do you do here?
I just recently celebrated my 9 year anniversary at TopSpot on April 1st, which was really exciting! When I started at TopSpot, I was an SEO Specialist. I then moved into a Team Lead position, where I managed a Customer Relationship Team. Now, my official title is Enterprise Brand Manager, which means I get to work with a group of highly skilled specialists to improve our clients’ online marketing efforts thereby helping them grow their businesses.
Before working at TopSpot, what was the most interesting job you’ve ever had?
Hmm… I’d have to say my most interesting job before TopSpot was working at the corporate office a local real estate company I was looking for ways to grow their marketing efforts and expand their clientele. Long story short, I ended up writing and starring in an infomercial for them that was completely in Spanish. Seeing as how I spoke almost no Spanish at the time, it led to a pretty interesting experience.
Nine years is a pretty impressive length of time! What has been your favorite part of being a part of TopSpot’s growth?
When I first started with TopSpot, there were less than 20 people. Now, even though we’ve grown to nearly 100 team members just in our Houston office, the culture still has that same personal feel that it had when I started. The Management Team still remembers not only important dates in my own life (like my work anniversary, birthday, etc.) but also those of my son and daughter.
Even though they’re making incredibly important decisions every day to steer the company in the right direction they still somehow make the effort to let everyone know that they are an important part of the team.”
What do you like to do for fun?
Lots! I’m an HGTV and Pinterest addict and spend tons of time working on house projects and planning out what the next home project is going to be. I’ve actually designed and built three houses. I’m currently living in one of those and my next project is building out a second rental unit.
Country dancing is also a favorite of mine as well as traveling. The places I’ll travel to for a great photo! I’ve also had the opportunity to go to Scotland, London, Paris, Rome, Venice, Dubai, Mexico as well as a good amount of nationwide trips including a trip to Las Vegas for the wedding of my friend and co-worker, Jessica! Although I don’t think we got a TopSpotting picture on that trip, I guess we will just have to go back! Ha!
I also volunteer for the National Bone Marrow Donor Program, which helps to find bone marrow matches for patients withblood cancers. If you’re not on the marrow registry it’s so easy!

What advice would you give to our newer team members?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions! There’s so much to take in when you first start here, not only from the perspective of our industry and company culture but also in learning as much as you can about our client’s businesses. We understand there’s a lot to take in and there are so many people here eager to help out, don’t be too shy to take advantage of that. Everyone here has such a passion for the line of work and it creates an atmosphere of people pushing each other to do great things.
