We are thrilled to announce our recognition as a 2018 Best & Brightest winner as well as being named Houston’s Elite Award Winner for Communication & Shared Vision. This year also marked the sixth year in a row that TopSpot was named one of the “Best and Brightest Companies To Work For® in Houston” by the National Association for Business Resources (NABR).

TopSpot’s HR Manager, Abby Frizzell (pictured above with event host, Bill Balleza of KPRC Local 2 News) accepted the Elite Award at the April 27th ceremony.

This award reflects TopSpot’s ongoing efforts to provide team members with multiple ways to communicate with executive team members including:

Breakfast Meetings – Once a month, TopSpot President, David Underwood & VP of Operations, Anita Perez-Valdez, lead a monthly breakfast meeting where the team is updated on business goals, progress, team tenure & anniversaries.

Lunch & Learns – Lunch and Learns are also held on a regular basis. Attendance is open to anyone within the company and team members are given an open floor to ask upper management any questions they have for them. Questions typically range from advice on day to day work tasks to big-picture questions focused on the direction of the business.

TinyPulse – TopSpot also utilizes a survey software called TinyPulse where team members are encouraged to give upper management anonymous feedback on different topics each month. They can also commend each other for doing a good job through TinyPulse “cheers”. Team member “cheers” are displayed on TV monitors throughout the office. This promotes teamwork and positive communication between teams and across different departments.

TopSpot’s use of TinyPulse was also touched on when David Underwood, spoke at the Best & Brightest program’s Driving Culture & Best Practices, Rapid Fire Roundtable:

We have learned more from the anonymous feedback our team members share with us in TinyPulse than we ever would have otherwise. And we have implemented many new processes from that feedback. Providing our team with the opportunity to openly share their thoughts or concerns with us has made us a better company.”
