Meet Julia Masera, TopSpot Recruiting & Employee Engagement Manager

How long have you been working at TopSpot, and what do you do here?

Julia Masera, TopSpot Recruiting Engagement

My time at TopSpot is a little bit different than most Team Members. I started at TopSpot as an SEO Analyst in 2016 and was in that role for a year and a half. I then left TopSpot to pursue a career in recruiting but remained incredibly close to the TopSpot Team. I always knew I wanted to get back to TopSpot but wanted to make sure it was for a role that I saw myself being in long-term. In July 2018, that role became a reality and I found myself getting to be TopSpotter again!

For the last year, my role has been Recruiting & Employee Engagement, which means I handle the recruiting and hiring for TopSpot. I also stay engaged with our Team Members once they’re hired and keep a pulse on how they are feeling as they grow into their role. I am so thankful for my time as an SEO Specialist for many reasons, with one being that it has helped me to better understand the day to day for the roles we are hiring for.

Also, we are actively hiring for multiple positions so I encourage you to look at our open positions and apply online! (I wouldn’t be doing my job if I didn’t at least mention that, right? 😊)

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

As a kid, I always wanted to be a psychologist. I found industrial/organizational psychology incredibly interesting but then realized how much more school I needed, so pivoted a bit. However, I think my day consists of organizational psychology in the sense that I’m constantly studying human behavior in a work setting to better solve work-related challenges.

What is your proudest moment at TopSpot?

My proudest moment at TopSpot is every day! I love being able to watch Team Members I’ve brought onboard grow and excel in their new roles. I can’t help but feel their excitement for each accomplishment they have or new milestone they hit.

I get pretty invested in every Team Member here. It’s incredibly fulfilling to be apart of someone’s career from the very beginning and see them grow over time.

What do you enjoy doing outside of the office?

One of my favorite things to do outside of the office is spending time with family and friends. Being a Houston native, I am a Houston Astros fan and grew up watching the games with my Grandpa. On Sundays, you can find me at my parent’s house for a home-cooked meal with the Astros playing in the background (given its baseball season).

I also enjoy staying home and being a complete bum. Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely love to travel, but nothing beats a lazy day in for me. Whether I am binge-watching some TV series or reading a new book, I really enjoy the days that have no agenda.

How has TopSpot helped you in your career development?

Oh wow, I am not really sure how TopSpot hasn’t helped me in my career development. Considering I was able to come back in this new role is a great example of how much TopSpot cares for my career development. Everyone here has been a resource and is always willing to teach me something new or provide feedback. Every day is different which allows me the opportunity to constantly learn something new.

Here are a few things Julia’s Team Members have to say about her via our internal “Cheers” platform, TinyPulse:

You have been absolutely killing it with our new Paid Search team members! They have all been easy to work with, excited to learn, and will all make great team members! Thank you so much for all of your hard work, you are majorly contributing to making the PPC Team great and I really appreciate it!

Thanks for everything that you do and being so sweet and helpful!
You have been a total rock star for me throughout the hiring/on boarding process here, and I’m so grateful for your quick responses, patience with all of my questions and general positive attitude.

High-five for all the hustle you are bringing to our hiring efforts, and for bringing in new Team Members for Project Management, Design, Analytics, PPC, SEO and Development. You’ve literally brought in people to every department this year. Thanks for all you do!
