At TopSpot, we believe in leading by example. That is why we are honored to be named one of the Best and Brightest Companies to Work For® in Houston for the 8th year in a row. 

The Best and Brightest program sets out to celebrate those companies that exemplify “Better Business. Richer Lives. Stronger Communities.” This sums up the mentality that we attempt to instill in our employees. As Julia Karnezis, Director of People Experience explains, “Having worked at TopSpot for over 8 years, I wholeheartedly believe we have Houston’s best and brightest. I see it every day with how our Team interacts with each other and the passion and excitement around driving online opportunities for our customers. Since I’ve been with TopSpot, there’s always been a strong commitment and focus to our customers but also our Team in providing a great place to work, learn, and grow.”

Through ongoing individual and Team trainings, team building through community service, and the open lines of communication throughout the company, we work hard to show our employees that they are valued members of the TopSpot Team. 

This year, one of the elements we were recognized for was our TopTeam program. Every quarter, Team Members are selected and recognized by the Management Team for their impressive efforts throughout the previous three months. Winners get honored with a trophy and a well-deserved day of fun with the other TopTeam winners.

At the end of the year, we hold our Toppies Awards. Here, we honor the Team Members who have done exemplary things throughout the previous year. This past year was the largest awards ceremony we have ever had, in part because of the incredible Team Members we are so thankful to work with every day. 

Houston’s Best and Brightest Companies are determined based on surveys completed by the employees of the companies nominated. These surveys are reviewed by an independent research firm that considers the survey results for the following categories: 

  • Compensation, benefits and employee solutions 
  • Employee enrichment, engagement and retention 
  • Employee education and development 
  • Recruitment, selection and orientation 
  • Employee achievement and recognition 
  • Communication and shared vision 
  • Diversity and inclusion

Being recognized as one of the best and brightest companies for having high evaluations in these areas means a lot to us and is one of the reasons we strive to win this award, on the local and national level every year. “Being recognized formally with this designation, and for it to be based on our Team’s sentiment, is really special and reinforces why we do what we do,” says Karnezis.
