October Team Member Spotlight: Sara Brown, Team Lead

How long have you been working at TopSpot and what do you do here?

I have been at TopSpot for three years. I started out working at the front desk where I answered the phones, supported our accounting department and got to know all of our team members really well. I then moved to the SEO Analyst role, where I was on a Customer Relationship Team and really learned the ins and outs of internet marketing. About a year and a half ago, I became a Team Lead where I lead my own Customer Relationship Team.  We develop integrated digital marketing strategies for our clients. We work hard, foster great relationships and have fun!

How has TopSpot helped you in your career development?

My role as the Administrative Assistant at TopSpot was my first job out of college. At that point, I did not know exactly what I wanted to do. TopSpot helped me identify what I was really passionate about and gave me the confidence to succeed. They provided the training, feedback, and support I’ve needed to grow both personally and professionally.

What is your favorite part of working for TopSpot?

The people 100%. From our clients to our internal team members I love the people I work with. I love seeing how our work can impact the lives of our clients and make them more successful. Internally, we are a close-knit group who strive to achieve greatness for our clients and each other. Being able to grow in a career you love with people you love makes each day that much more enjoyable.

If you could trade positions with any team member, who would it be and why?

I would love to trade places with Beth Shockley, our Director of Marketing. Beth has been with TopSpot for over ten years and really knows the ins and outs of everything we do. She gets to report on client success through case studies and awards and company success through various outlets, like the Houston Business Journal. She gets to share company news through a variety of Blogs and social media outlets, and she is always coming up with new creative ideas for our website. She tracks all of our new business opportunities as well and gets to report on how TopSpot is growing from a business perspective. She has a wealth of knowledge about who TopSpot is and what we do!

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Being from Houston, I spend a lot of time with family and friends. I love traveling, enjoying live music, indoor cycling and of course, trying the many fantastic restaurants Houston has to offer. Oh….and college football!

What advice would you give to our newer team members?

Ask questions. Research. Take advantage of all our resources. Do whatever you can to grow and find what really inspires you. I have a wall of inspiration that has grown exponentially over the last three years because I feel inspired every single day!
