TopSpot Team Member Spotlight: Tho Nguyen

Our latest Team Member Spotlight highlights Tho Nguyen, one of our Web Application Developers. Tho is a valued member of the TopSpot Team and is described by his team members as helpful, reliable, smart and fun. He always takes time to help with troubleshooting, steps in to help when others are out of the office, and even brings his own Nintendo Switch into the office to play with others during his lunch break! We’re proud to introduce you to a valuable member of the TopSpot Team and our latest Team Member Spotlight, Tho Nguyen!

Meet Tho Nguyen, TopSpot Web Application Developer

How long have you been working at TopSpot, and what do you do here?

I have been working at TopSpot for three years. I started as an Analytics Specialist, implementing analytics solutions on our client’s websites so our team could track and report on important metrics such as leads & traffic trends.

I recently transitioned to the role of Web Application Developer, which I am really excited about! So far, I have helped with the development of TopSpot’s custom analytics solution, LOOP Analytics, along with a few other internal technology tools.

If you could switch your job with anyone else within TopSpot, whose job would you want?

If I could switch job with someone else at TopSpot, it would definitely be TopSpot’s President, David Underwood. I know it isn’t an easy job, but I am really interested in seeing the behind the scenes of how a company is run. The learning opportunities would be endless! More importantly, I would get to implement awesome ideas that Dave probably wouldn’t approve, such as mid-afternoon nap time. 😉

What do you think is the most important quality you need to have for success?

I think the most important quality you need to have for success is passion. I believe that those who succeed deeply love what they do. Their passion is what drives them to wake up every day excited for what is next to come.

What do you enjoy doing outside of the office?

I love playing sports! With the nature of my job sitting in front of a computer for an extended number of hours every day, I needed something to do that gets my body moving for a healthier lifestyle. For the last two and a half years, I’ve been doing CrossFit every day after work. On the weekends, I usually play basketball. Other sports I enjoy are volleyball, flag football, rock climbing, tennis, and ping pong. We have a ping pong table in the game room, so if anyone wants to play, hit me up!

I also enjoy playing video games. In the past, I’ve competed in games like Starcraft 2 and League of Legends in the Collegiate Esports and at MLG conventions. I’ve recently beaten Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which is a really hard single player game, but really fun nonetheless. I bought a Nintendo Switch a few months ago and have fallen in love with it, so much so that I’ve been bringing it to work every day so I can play Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in TopSpot’s game room during my lunch break. It is an open invite to all TopSpotters, so stop by and join in if you’d like!

I am a fan of anime. I started watching anime since I was in middle school and have been hooked ever since. My favorite shows include Death Note, Full Metal Alchemist, and Naruto. I’ve been to anime conventions before and it is loads of fun just seeing the cool art and merchandise they have, and of course the cosplays. If you hear a Japanese song playing in the web department on Music Friday, it was most likely added by me.
