Meet Amanda Whittington, Team Lead

How long have you been working at TopSpot and what do you do here?

I have been working at TopSpot for four years as of March 2020. I started here as an SEO Analyst and then became a Team Lead where I now manage a team of SEO Specialists and a Paid Search Manager. In this role, I oversee performance, strategy, and communication for all the businesses we partner with to enhance their digital marketing presence.

What does leadership look like to you?

Personally, leadership to me is someone who leads by example consistently and inspires good behaviors from others through the way they lead. The individuals that I consider leaders in my life are the ones that I look up to because of the way they carry themselves, the way they make others feel when they are around you, by being available, and how they inspire you to be a better person in various capacities.

How has your job helped you to expand your skills?

Without a doubt, this job has helped me expand my customer service skillset and just be an all-around clearer communicator. I have had so much experience with various individuals that I have really learned how to adapt my communication style based on who I am speaking to. I have also had to become more confident and comfortable with public speaking in this role (my biggest fear 😊), which has led me to now moderating our live Webinars we host every month to engage our audience in various digital marketing topics. With everything that is going on in the world currently, I have been able to work closely with so many clients who are doing amazing things to help others.

Being their partner through this climate has been a tremendous privilege and has allowed me to lend a hand in helping others, as well.

What is your favorite thing to do in the state of Texas?

My favorite thing to do in Texas is go visit my family in Boerne. My parents have a house at Cordillera Ranch in the Hill Country where we can go to do so many things and just escape reality by relaxing and getting away. I come from a big golf family, so being on a patio overlooking a golf course in the Hill Country with a glass of wine is my ideal activity here in Texas.

What is your most treasured possession?

My most treasured possession at this point in my life is my late brother’s necklace. My brother was killed when I was in college, and his roommate at the time was able to bring me the necklace he wore every single day, which was a total surprise. While I don’t wear the necklace because I am terrified to lose it, it is really one of the only tangible memories I have left of my brother and I hold it very near and dear to my heart!

What is on your bucket list?

My biggest bucket list item is to one day be able to attend The Masters Golf Tournament with my Dad. Growing up I spent nearly every Sunday on the couch with my family watching Tiger in red, and The Masters is unlike any other sports tradition. While sadly we won’t get to watch it together this year, I look forward to one day being able to witness a Sunday live at The Masters.
