TopSpot Team Member Spotlight: August Beverly

At TopSpot, we appreciate our Team Members and recognize their unique strengths. Each month, we showcase some of the great people we get to work with every day. Today, we are shining the Spotlight on August Beverly. Read on to learn more about this SEO expert with a passion for fitness and family.

Meet August Beverly, SEO Manager

How long have you been working at TopSpot and what do you do here?

TopSpot SEO Manager, August Beverly

I have been working at TopSpot for four and a half years! I started as an SEO Specialist in 2016 and was promoted to a Senior SEO Specialist a few years later. In that role, I got to assist with training our new Team Members and spend more time growing my knowledge for some of the more technical aspects of SEO.

Recently, I was promoted to my current role as TopSpot’s SEO Manager. As the SEO Manager, I get to work with and help to develop our new and experienced SEO Specialists, so they succeed in their roles and help to grow our clients’ businesses.

What is your favorite aspect of your role?

My favorite part of my role is growing SEOs and other members of TopSpot to help them succeed, feel motivated, and remain inspired. Helping others is a rewarding process. It is awesome to see each of our Search Engine Optimization Specialists succeed knowing that I have helped them on their journey.

Who (or what) has had the biggest influence on your career and why?

At UT Austin, I began as a Natural Science Major. During my second semester, I signed up for an advertising class in the communication school and within the first two weeks of the class, I knew I wanted to change my major to Advertising! I loved the class that much. Within a year, I was an Advertising major and started the journey that eventually led me to TopSpot. During my junior year of college, I interned in the SEO Department at Build-A-Sign, a successful Austin startup. If I hadn’t changed majors or previously interned in SEO, I may have never landed at TopSpot.

What advice would you give someone who wants to learn SEO?

There are so many resources and videos online that range from beginner to advanced SEO strategies. But, I’d suggest starting with reading the Moz Guide to SEO, and if possible, implement SEO changes on a website and track those changes to see if they led to improved results.

Do you have a personal motto or favorite phrase that you live by?

“PVO” – Positive Vibes Only. Attitude plays a huge role in how we interact and treat others. Having a positive attitude decreases stress, helps you deal with situations better, improves overall happiness, and is infectious.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

I enjoy doing a mix of [solidcore] and Melissa Wood Health workouts! I’m really interested in wellness and gut health. I enjoy walking my dog, Molé (pronounced like chicken Molé) and listening to podcasts on wellness, health, well-being, and fulfillment.

If you are interested in learning more about gut health, I recommend listening to The Blonde Files Podcast Episode 63 or reading Fiber Fueled by Will Bulsiewicz, MD, MSC. I live in Austin, so on weekends you can find my husband, Ben, and I doing a mix of home improvement projects, taking our dog to Town Lake, exploring the greenbelt, or catching a fun happy hour.

What are you listening to right now?

My favorite podcasts right now are The Blonde Files Podcast and The Moth. The Blonde Files highlights topics such as wellness and fulfillment, and always has interesting guests that I enjoy listening to and learning from. I also love listening to The Moth on long car rides. The Moth podcast features true stories told by amateur storytellers around the country on a live stage. If you haven’t listened to any of The Moth episodes, I highly recommend it!

Here are a few things August’s Team Members have to say about her:

Working with August has been an absolute joy! She is the definition of a true TopSpotter – passionate, dedicated, and always up for a challenge! Can’t imagine TopSpot without her!

Jordan Peddicord, August’s Manager

This is sort of a “just because” cheers, but well deserving nonetheless. I appreciate all the hard work and effort you’re putting in to train and prepare our new Team Members. I know you’re also working on a handful of things to improve our processes, consistency, and work quality. You make us better. Thank you for all that you do!

August has had endless patience with me and my questions, my clients’ questions, and just general everything SEO these last few weeks and I cannot thank her enough. Everything she has worked on has been stellar, she is a gem and there aren’t enough ways I can thank August. All of the accounts August has worked on have seen growth and all of the accounts August has overseen the launches with have seen successful launches. Thank you, again, for everything – from all us!!

Thanks for the fantastic SEO training for PPC members! I really appreciate you taking the time to answer all of our questions and tailoring the training sessions to what we had the most questions about/interest in, and jumping into our different clients, etc! I think we all learned a lot.
