2022 Houston AMA Crystal Awards Winner

At the 2022 Houston AMA Crystal Awards, TopSpot was honored to have been among the finalists for the seventh year in a row. The Crystal Awards are put on by the Houston Chapter of the American Marketing Association. This year, TopSpot was named a finalist in four categories: Digital Marketing: Google Analytics, Paid Search Campaign (large budget) and Paid Search Campaign (medium budget), and Most Improved Website.

The corporate website for Cornerstone Building Brands serves multiple functions, so understanding the flow of their customers was crucial to being able to adopt the right messaging. The usual competitor and search landscape research wouldn’t work here since, in many ways, they were competing with themselves. 

In order to better understand the traffic flow of the people visiting the site, the TopSpot Team began by taking a hard look at the data in Google Analytics. This included the usual Behavior reports, but the Team needed to go deeper. They started looking at the multi-funnel report. GA was telling them they had increases in traffic, but who were they, and what were they doing? 

By creating segments within GA, they could filter the audience into relevant sections. From there, the Team could see how effective their site optimization strategies were working.

Braemar Building Systems is a leading manufacturer and distributor of custom steel and metal buildings. 

A new website is always an opportunity – and a challenge. While Braemar’s original site was out of date and unresponsive, it had served as the online face of the company for several years. Updating any industrial website can often cause such a slow-moving industry to be unsure of dramatic changes. However, this new website was crafted carefully around what would make the users happy – such as clear navigation that was different from what they were used to but was so easy to use that visitors could find their way with ease. The content was designed based on paid search queries, site searches, and in-depth reviews of the company’s form data. Tailored to the user, this new site was everything Braemar’s customers wanted and never knew they needed.
