TopSpot Team Member Spotlight: Alex Sisavath

At TopSpot, we appreciate our Team Members and recognize their unique attributes. Each month, we showcase some of the great people we get to work with every day. Today, we are shining the Spotlight on Alex Sisavath. Learn more about this young woman with a long history of working in manufacturing and helping people.

Meet Alex Sisavath, Analytics Specialist

How long have you been at TopSpot and what do you do here?

I’ve been at TopSpot for one and a half years as a Web Analytics Specialist. Our Team is responsible for all tracking implementation on clients’ websites as well as maintenance and support for analytics software.

What is interesting about your job that other people may not realize?

Alex Sisavath, TopSpot Analytics Specialist

Web analytics is a niche subject and the technology is constantly changing or improving. We keep an eye on the latest trends and developments, which means there’s always something new to learn or a new challenge to face. What makes it exciting is that almost anything web-related can be tracked, and this, in particular, requires some serious attention to detail. We zero in on the smallest of link/button clicks to help analyze what makes a customer get in touch with a business or what influenced their purchase on a website. Clients or marketing teammates will come up with an idea and ask us, “Is this possible to track?” so we figure it out and do our best to make it happen.

Of the TopSpot Core Values, which one do you identify with most?

I very much identify with our Core Value of “People First.” A big motivation for me is simply that our marketing team and clients rely on us for assistance, guidance, and solutions. I strive to help out as much as I can, and if I can complete a task quickly and efficiently, then I think that our teammates will maybe have a more successful day and our clients’ businesses will prosper.

A big motivation for me is simply that our marketing team and clients rely on us for assistance, guidance, and solutions.

What have you learned at TopSpot that you might not have learned anywhere else?

If not for my role at TopSpot, I may have never gained so much insight into how web analytics actually works or how it’s used in real-world digital marketing. Everyone has an obscure view of data mining or a little bit of an idea of how we’re being tracked online. Now, I have an in-depth understanding of the kinds of tools out there and how they’re implemented. Technology is also finicky so having a set of tracking tools is better than relying on one alone. I learned that there’s software for tracking customer phone calls, recording website visitor heatmaps, creating dynamic analytics reports, and capturing form submissions, like with our own LOOP Analytics software. The latter has been so helpful for when I’m troubleshooting potential issues or performing an audit and need to cross-reference lead/conversion data.

Also, as someone in a technical field, I always want the chance to grow my programming skills. I came in with general HTML/CSS knowledge, but at TopSpot, I have the opportunity to work with more JavaScript/jQuery, which is the language responsible for a lot of the fun and dynamic elements of a website.

What is something interesting about you that others might not know?

My first job out of high school was at an electronics manufacturing company working in assembly lines or data entry/material handling. We assembled computer parts like hard drives, servers, Cisco office phones, and conference monitors, and I actually enjoyed working with my hands. It was tough working long hours and going to school at the same time, but I remember it fondly. I met so many great people of all ages and backgrounds, and it’s an experience that helped shape the person I am today.

What is your favorite item on your desk?

My favorite item is probably my coffee mug. My go-to mug was a party favor from my niece’s baptism and has her portrait printed onto it. It’s so cheesy, but I love it. Also, since working from home, my cat sometimes plops down in front of me, sitting on my notebook and blocking my view of the computer monitors. It’s the most affection I’ve gotten from her in all our 6 years together, so she’s obviously now a bonus part of my desk.

What is your ideal day outside of the office?

I would love to wake up really early in the morning before the sun rises, make coffee, and just read home décor blogs. I’m also reading A Clash of Kings (aka the 2nd Game of Thrones book), so I’d like to make progress on that. Currently, I live near Hermann Park, and like to take a stroll there (pre-pandemic), singing K-pop songs to myself and feeding the ducks. While I’m there, it’d be great to visit the Museum of Natural Science and admire the gems and minerals (my favorite exhibit). But on a lazy afternoon, I’d go home and watch TV for a while with my dog beside me (my cat never joins us). Maybe I’d go see my nieces and nephews, who always bring me joy, or I’d do some sort of bargain shopping which is also guaranteed to bring joy. I could do both, but I like to be laissez-faire. I would end it by hosting a board game night for friends or a living room karaoke party (only dreams, this year), but that would be my idea of a perfect day!

Here are a few things Alex’s Team Members have to say about her:

Alex is such an amazing team mate and hard worker. She is constantly going the extra mile on tasks and also helping her team mates & clients whenever possible. I am so excited to see Alex grow further in her role. We have worked together for almost 2 years now and she quickly became someone I can rely on. We are so lucky to have her on our team.

Courtney Clark, Alex’s Manager

Thank you SO much for diving into a client’s menu issue to correct it at 4:30 on a Friday. The client told me over the phone we “knocked this request out of the park and the CEO is beyond happy.” Your commitment to doing the right thing and customer service went a long way here.

Just wanted to give a quick cheers to Alex for a couple of things. First, Alex has been putting in a lot of hard work. Not just lately, but always. I feel like she’s one of the hardest workers on the team and is always dependable and helpful to anyone on the team or any of our clients. Most recently, Alex has been helping a client with their call routing issues. The issue wasn’t exactly on our end (the client was having routing issues to their 800 number), but Alex troubleshooted the issue, came up with good solutions and worked with the client to get them implemented. Great work! Thanks, Alex for everything you do for the team and for our clients. 🙂

Thank you for completing the new set-up for our client knowing that it was a very tight deadline (less than 24 hours). AND you completed the set-up within hours the same day! I really appreciate you jumping on this and prioritizing it. GREAT work!
